Common questions

Things vendors ask before signing up.

Otter holds the booking amount until you check the guest in. Once you mark them as checked in from the dashboard, the amount becomes withdrawable. Request a withdrawal anytime; the money reaches your registered bank account within 1–3 business days.
Two reasons, both in your favor. Guests book with more confidence when their money is safe until they arrive, and hosts who deliver win more bookings from that trust. And if anything goes wrong before check-in (a cancellation, an unavailable unit, a dispute), we resolve it instead of leaving you to chase refunds or fight chargebacks. The moment you check the guest in, the money is yours to withdraw.
It depends on how the cancellation happens. If the guest cancels through the Otter app and the unit allows self-cancellation, we refund them under the unit's rules with no action needed from you. If the unit doesn't allow self-cancellation, the booking cancels and the funds become yours. If the guest contacts you and you agree on a refund, you process the cancellation from your dashboard with the amount you both agreed on.
